Shawn Donovan Piper, 29, died October 27, 1991, at Long Beach, California, as the result of a hit-and-run accident.  Born June 29, 1962, in Pratt, the son of Harold and Shirley Piper, he was a resident of Washington since 1986 having moved from Great Bend.  He married Stephanie Shoe, October 29, 1983, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He was a boatswain's mate 1st Class in the U.S. Navy.

Piper was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Sarah and Amy, both of the home; parents Harold and SHirley Piper of Great Bend; and three sisters, Ann Belford of Spring, Texas, Sally D. McGuire of Great Bend and Katharine Piper-Westerman of Topeka.

Funeral will be a 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Glenn Tombaugh officiating.  Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery.  Memorials are suggest to the Sarah and Amy Piper Education Fund.
