GREAT BEND — Jay R. Preston, 43, of Great Bend, died Aug. 20 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born Oct. 6, 1962, in Lawrence, the son of Dr. Richard C. and Marilyn K. Ordway Preston. He graduated from Great Bend High School in1980 and later graduated from Dodge City Community College. He attended the University of Kansas and transferred to Fort HaysState Universit y. He married Celesa Hawthorne on Sept. 18, 1993, in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend since 1977, coming from Westpoint, N.Y., he was a truck driver for Logex in Great Bend. Preston was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Great Bend. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Jordan and Jesse, both of the home; onedaughter, Jaiden, of the home; one step-son, Timothy Schroeder of Great Bend; his parents, of Great Bend; and two sisters, Amy Guthrie of Stillwater, Okla., and Anne Paden of Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Great Bend Cemetery.
