MANHATTAN — Mary Evelyn Dobbs, 44, died Dec. 1, 2006 at her residence. She was born Sept. 5, 1962, in Great Bend, the daughter of Roy T.and Louise I. Cummings Bird. A resident of Manhattan since 1998, coming from Great Bend, she was a teacher at Kansas State Universityand Emporia State University.
Survivors include her mother, Louise Bird of Great Bend; three sons, Donovan A. Master of South Korea, and Thomas Dobbs and Zach Dobbs, both of the home; one daughter, Erica Dobbs of the home; two brothers, Paul Bird of Topeka and Jack Bird of Tokyo, Japan; and
four sisters, Sandra Gaskins of Lenoir, N.C., Rita Sampson of Pasadena, Calif., Bonnie Fairchild of Herndon, Va., and Phyllis Schindeldecker of Clearwater, Minn. She was preceded in death by one brother, John Bird. Burial in the Great Bend Cemetery.
